KASTAMONU joins the Earth Hour international campaign

01 march 2018

KASTAMONU became the partner of the international environmental campaign Earth Hour, during which WWF encourages to turn off the lights for one hour as a symbol of commitment to the future of the planet. At the same time, the lightning of the most famous buildings and monuments around the world is also switched off. In 2018, the international Earth Hour will be held for the 11th time — the campaign will take place on Saturday, March 24.

“Participating in this ecological event has become a tradition for our company”, saidGeneral Director of KASTAMONU Ali Kılıç. “Any production process has an impact on the environment, and our common goal is not only to minimize this impact, but also to help conserve and enhance our natural resources. Working in the field of wood processing and using a renewable natural resource, we make every effort to promote the ideas of resource and energy conservation among our employees, partners and business colleagues. We are convinced that events like this held by World Wide Fund for Nature play an important role within the issue of developing the environmental culture of citizens.”

Especially for Earth Hour, an official web-site was launched where you can get the detailed information about the event, support one or several nature protection initiatives, take part in a flash mob, check-in on a map and help your city to win in the Contest of Cities.

Earth Hour has been held in Russia since 2009, and since 2011, 16 to 20 million people have taken part in it annually. In 2017, Earth Hour became the largest event held in Russia and in the world ever: 184 countries participated in it, more than 3,100 world’s sightseeing attractions turned off the lights, and more than 150 cities supported the event in Russia.
