Kastamonu became the partner of Earth Hour in Russia

The company has supported the most mass environmental campaign on the planet, held under the auspices of the International Wildlife Fund (WWF). The event was held on Saturday, March 27.

This year, the Earth Hour campaign in Russia was dedicated to the availability of environmental information and was held under the "Open up!" motto. According to organizers, 60% of citizens to some extent do not trust official data on the state of the environment, and 21% are sure that such date is not available. WWF Russia believes that in order to prevent disasters or eliminate their consequences in a timely manner, businesses, the state and society must continuously inform each other about the environmental situation, providing reliable data. As a year earlier, the campaign was held in the online format.

“Participation in the Earth Hour campaign has long been a good tradition for the company and employees of Kastamonu. For several years, we have been supporting this remarkable initiative, which ideas echo the main principles of our environmental policy. Openness, honesty and real deeds are especially important for us in the issues of ecology and environmental protection. That is why we have been supporting environmental protection measures for many years. We carry out separate garbage collection at the enterprise, as well as hand over and recycle industrial waste,” said Ali Kılıç, CEO of Kastamonu Russia.

During Earth Hour, the Evogloss glossy panel production line was stopped at the plant.

Kastamonu conducts a comprehensive environmental policy that affects not only company's activities and employees, but also its business partners. The company promotes the ideas of responsible forest management, is engaged in tree planting, cooperates with WWF Russia and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). All production processes at the plant are set up to save natural resources and minimize the impact on the environment. This is achieved through the use of modern equipment from world-class manufacturers and an effective management system.

To date, Earth Hour is the largest environmental event on the planet. It is supported by more than 2 billion people from 188 countries. The lighting of hundreds of the world's most famous buildings is switched off for one hour as a sign of solidarity with the movement for the conservation of nature and planet's resources. Following the tradition, every year at the appointed time, Moscow switches off the lighting of the Kremlin architectural ensemble, Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral and GUM, as well as more than 1,000 other famous objects of the capital. Festive events on environmental themes, as well as switching off the lighting of iconic buildings and structures, are also taking place in many other Russian cities.
