Kastamonu Receives FSC Certificate of the Forest Stewardship CouncilMedia
The document confirms that the manufacturer meets requirements of the certified wood supply chain standard in Russia.
The FSC supply chain is the path that products take from the forest to the point of sale. It includes all stages of procurement, processing, trade and distribution, where the transition to the next stage involves a change of ownership.
Being a responsible manufacturer, Kastamonu supports similar projects and initiatives aimed at preserving the forest fund. The company is regularly audited for compliance with environmental standards and supply chain requirements, confirms existing certificates, and cooperates only with those partners who follow the principles of responsible forest management.
The FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests and controlled sources. The FSC certificate also means that the forestry that supplies wood carries out reforestation and meets additional environmental and social criteria for voluntary forest certification. At the same time, Kastamonu cooperates with forest users who restore more forest than harvest. Thus, the certification of the supply chain contributes to the transparent movement of products through all links.
As of January 31, 2020, more than 50 million hectares of forests and more than 1,100 industry organizations have been certified according to FSC standards in Russia.
In addition to the FSC certificate, there is a PEFC certificate to regulate activities of loggers. It also guarantees that forest products come from certified forests.
Kastamonu actively supports FSC and PEFC certification of loggers in Tatarstan, interacts with suppliers of raw materials, encouraging them to obtain certificates. This activity is a part of the company's continuous work to preserve the forest fund.
Kastamonu was established in 1969 as a part of the HAYAT holding.
