Kastamonu to Become General Partner of Earth Hour in RussiaMedia
The company will traditionally support the world's largest environmental campaign held by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The theme of this year's Russian Earth Hour is "Everyone can". The idea of the organizers is that absolutely everyone, without exception, can find own purpose in the common goal of protecting the environment – one should just take the initiative and start acting. In 2020, the campaign will be held in Russia for the 12th time.
Kastamonu constantly implements a comprehensive environmental policy aimed at taking care of natural resources and minimizing the impact of its production on the environment. This policy affects not only company's activities and employees, but also its business partners.
Kastamonu annually sends hundreds of tons of waste for recycling. The enterprise is equipped with a modern and efficient recycling system that allows processing some of the wood waste on the site and direct the resulting energy to production processes. In addition, the company actively promotes the principles of responsible forest management, encouraging partners to pass FSC and PECF certification and adhere to its requirements.
"This year, Kastamonu will traditionally take part in the Earth Hour campaign, having become its general partner in Russia. In support of this international initiative, the plant will stop two production sections – the grinding line and the chipper. Street lighting and electricity will also be selectively turned off in the areas of flat lamination and bar manufacturing. And, of course, employees of Kastamonu Russia will also join the campaign, including plant employees, who, like millions of people around the world, will turn off the lights and electrical appliances in their homes for an hour," said Ali Kılıç, CEO of Kastamonu Russia.
Today, the Earth Hour campaign is the largest environmental event on the planet. It unites more than 2 billion participants around the world in 188 countries. During this campaign the lights are turned off on more than 18,000 architectural monuments.
The Earth Hour campaign in Russia will be held on March 28 from 20:30 to 21:30.
