Kastamonu to increase exports of laminate to the Baltic States

Kastamonu, which is the leading manufacturer of the wood processing industry in Russia, will strengthen its presence in the Baltic States. In 2021, it is planned to significantly increase exports of laminate floorings to Lithuania.

By the end of 2020, Kastamonu has taken 5% of the Lithuanian laminate market. This was achieved due to cooperation with two large DIY chains: Depo (8 stores in Latvia and 5 in Lithuania) and Ehituse ABC (12 stores in Estonia). The flooring market in the Baltic States is characterized by the fact that products coming to one retail network are often sold in neighboring countries as well. Despite the developed competitive environment, this year, according to estimates of Kastamonu experts, the company will occupy about 10% of the market.

At the moment, all brands of Kastamonu floorings are already represented in this region, and company’s products are in high demand.

In 2021, the company began to cooperate with another large Lithuanian chain – SKV (24 stores) and by the end of the year it plans to increase its market share in the country to 18%.

“Kastamonu supplies laminate floorings to more than 27 countries around the world. Over the years of operation of the plant in Russia, we have achieved high positions in the Asian market – for example, in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Now we are actively developing supplies to the Baltic States. This is a promising direction for us, which will become one of the priorities for the coming years,” said Ali Kılıç, CEO of Kastamonu Russia.

In addition, in 2021 Kastamonu began to cooperate with one of the largest flooring networks in Poland – Komfort, which has 157 stores.

The Kastamonu plant for the production of MDF, HDF and laminate floorings has been operating in Tatarstan since 2014. The company produces laminate from the 31st to the 33rd class of wear resistance and various types of MDF boards, including moisture-resistant and fire-resistant ones. In the near future, it is also expected to launch the production of laminate of the 34th class. As of today, the production capacity of Kastamonu amounts to 1.05 million m3 of MDF boards and 45 million m2 of laminate per year. The company actively cooperates with the largest developers, federal and regional retail chains, and distributors.
