Kastamonu has launched a new laminate production lineMedia
Kastamonu, the leading manufacturer of the wood processing industry in Russia, has launched the third production line. The launch took place on March 5, 2021. Thanks to the opening of the third line, the total volume of laminate produced by the company will be 45 million m2 per year.
The Kastamonu plant for the production of MDF, HDF and laminate flooring was opened in Tatarstan in 2014. During its operation, the Yelabuga-based company has invested more than USD 771.8 million in the region, which makes it the largest Turkish investor in the republic and the second among the residents of the Alabuga SEZ. The company produces laminate from the 31st to the 33rd class of wear resistance and various types of MDF boards, including moisture-resistant and fire-resistant. Today, the production capacity of Kastamonu is 1.05 million m3 of MDF boards and 45 million m2 of laminate per year. Laminate flooring is exported to 27 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
“Despite the global pandemic and difficult economic situation, we decided to invest in the production expansion. In a record time of 4 months, we were able to purchase necessary equipment, deliver it to the factory and start producing the final product. The third production line was launched on March 5, 2021. Thanks to the opening of the third line, the total volume of laminate produced by the company will be 45 million m2 per year. We will be able to significantly expand the geography of deliveries in Russia, in addition, there are plans to include new countries in export deliveries,” said Ali Kılıç, CEO of Kastamonu Russia.
Company's experts expect that the share of Kastamonu in the laminate flooring segment in the Russian market will exceed 30%. The increase in the volume of products will meet the market demand and needs of company's distributors, as well as will provide end users with more opportunities to purchase high-quality products. This expansion will also affect global economic processes in the industry and in the country: the volume of value-added products in the Russian wood processing market will significantly increase, and the share of import substitution will significantly increase too.
The new line of the Kastamonu plant will produce laminate of the most popular wear resistance classes – 31, 32, 33 and the highest one - 34, which was not previously included in the company's product portfolio. Thus, the production will meet the broadest market demands in both commercial and residential real estate, providing materials for different types of premises in accordance with the highest requirements for the quality and technical characteristics of products.
The third production line of the plant is equipped with the state of the art equipment, including high-tech machines of the German company HOMAG — the world leader in integrated production solutions for the furniture and wood processing industry. Thanks to modern equipment and many years of experience in the field of quality management and control, the new line will produce laminate that meets all the latest market requirements and needs of end users, as well as international and Russian technical and environmental standards.
The expansion of production volumes will significantly strengthen the company's position and increase its competitiveness in the Russian wood processing industry. Now the company successfully cooperates with major developers, federal and regional retail chains and distributors, and also participates in the implementation of various construction projects, including the renovation program in Moscow.
Having faced unpredictable conditions of the new reality, Kastamonu has quickly adapted to the market situation. Thanks to timely measures taken, the company managed to maintain a high position in the industry. Now the time has come to adjust the sales strategy and marketing programs in accordance with the adopted focus on targeted and global support for the industry.
For many years, the company regularly supported environmental initiatives and participated in environmental activities, cooperated with WWF Russia and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
